I am constantly in a state of awe as to the individualized, personal attention He gives to each of His children. I love Isaiah 49:16 which reads, “Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.”

There is what I call a companion verse that I like to put with it that is in 49:2. It says, “He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me....” A very similar verse is in chapter 51, verse 16, “And I have put my words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of my hand....” Now, if you take 49:16 along with it, you get an amazing picture. Let me explain it to you.

Put one hand straight out in front of you with your palm facing up. Look at your palm. Now, if you’ll cup your hand, it almost looks like a bowl, right? The palm of your hand is surrounded by your fingers and the edges of your hand. It’s almost like a ‘wall’ around the palm. Leave that hand just as it is and now, take your other hand and place it over the first hand with the palm of it facing down. If you were outside in the sunshine, the top hand would create a shadow over the bottom hand that is cupped. Isn’t this wonderful? Just imagine yourself being in the palm of God’s hand and then Him covering you with His other hand. And, if you’ll lower the top hand down onto the bottom hand, it’s almost like a little nest. That’s where our Lord has us! This is the safest, most secure and protected place in existence. I love it!!
